How the Cana RSVP system works

Written by Zachary Ratliff

Cana’s RSVP system is designed to make responding simple for guests and easy to manage for couples. Guests look up their invitation by entering their first and last name exactly as it appears on the invitation. If more than one matching party is found, they can select the correct invitation from a list.

When a guest RSVPs on a wedding website, they’ll see all events they’ve been invited to, along with everyone included in their party. Each guest responds individually for each event, so one person in a household can attend while another declines.

If an event includes RSVP questions, like meal selections or song requests, those appear after a guest selects that they are attending.

If you’ve added a guest with an unknown name, such as a plus-one, that guest can be named during the RSVP process before submission. This makes it easy to invite a plus-one even if you do not know their name in advance.

When guests submit their RSVP, Cana saves responses by guest and by event. This means you can track exactly who is invited, who is attending, who has declined, and who has not responded yet. Required RSVP questions must be completed before the form can be submitted.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Guests only see events they are actually invited to.

  • RSVP responses are collected per person, not just per household.

  • Guests can submit answers for custom RSVP questions when applicable.

  • Plus-ones with unnamed placeholders can provide their name during RSVP.

How to RSVP for a guest

If your guests tell you in person or mail, you can manage their RSVP as well:
Open the guest’s party in the guest list sidebar, then select the Events & RSVPs tab. Expand the guest under the event you want to update, turn on Invited? if needed, choose their Attending? status as Attending, Not Attending, or Not Responded, complete any RSVP questions shown, and click Save to keep the changes.

How to view RSVP responses in your Guest List

Once guests start replying, you can review their responses in the RSVP management table on your Guest List. Cana shows RSVP status by guest and by event, so you can quickly see who is invited, who is attending, who has declined, and who has not responded yet.

For each event, every guest in a party is listed separately. If they are invited, you’ll see one of three statuses: Attending, Not attending, or No Response. If they are not invited to that event, Cana shows Not Invited.

If you added custom RSVP questions, their answers appear in additional columns beside the event. Text answers display as written, and multiple-choice answers display as the option or options the guest selected. This makes it easy to review details like meal choices, song requests, or other event-specific responses without opening each RSVP individually.

You can also use filters to narrow the table by RSVP status or by answers to specific RSVP questions. For example, you can filter to see only guests who are attending, only guests who have not responded, or only guests who selected a certain meal choice. The table also includes search and export options, so it’s easy to find a specific guest or download your list for planning.
